Do not pour cooking grease or baking fat down the drain.  Dispose of it in an old coffee can or milk container.

Shut off and drain any outside faucets including lawn sprinkling systems.

To prevent freezing of water in your faucets, run your water from every valve in your house at regular intervals throughout the winter.

Put 1 cup of baking soda or vinegar down the drain and let sit for 30 minutes, then rinse down with very hot water.

Allow heat to circulate through every room of the house.  Leave cabinet doors under faucets ajar to allow heat near the pipes.

Run hot water down the drain after each use. This helps to prevent oils and food from building up in the pipes.
